We require three specific vaccinations for your pet to be boarded at Swan Kennels:
(If your pet(s) vaccinations are due to expire during or before the end of their stay, the vaccinations must be updated prior to drop off for boarding. If your pet(s) vaccinations have expired before your drop off date, vaccinations must be updated 7 days prior to drop off for boarding.) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.
-Rabies Vaccine
-Distemper, Parvovirus, with Leptospirosis vaccine or DHLPP
-Kennel cough/Bordatella/Bronchishield
Attention:
***All owners must provide proof of up-to-date shot records for all pets brought in for boarding.
Swan Kennels will no longer verify vaccinations records on pets prior to drop-off.
This step will prevent our office from making hundreds of calls to vet office(s) each week.
We require a receipt of shot records prior to drop off, whether by visit or email at swankennels@gmail.com.
In order to prevent your pet from becoming carsick: Your pet(s) are not fed on the day you're scheduled to pick-up, unless you request it.
Animals we Cannot Board:
Puppies: we board puppies 6 months and older. We want to give the shots enough time to get in your puppy's system, without risk of getting sick. When they are 6 months or older we would love for them to come visit us!
Older dogs: We do not board older dogs with disabilities or special needs. We prefer that you consider the stress of your animal when considering boarding him, if he has problems walking, or seeing, because he will be in a new place, which is stressful.
Aggressive dogs: We do not board people or pet aggressive dogs. We understand that there is one instance where a pet can be put into a stressful situation and acts out. Our rule is "If we cannot put our hands on your pet, then we cannot board him/her" This is for the safety of your pet. We also cannot board if the animal is pet aggressive, because they will have neighbors on both sides.
We do not board female dogs in heat. The male pets boarding can become agitated when there is a female in heat, resulting in a very upset kennel.
We do not board animals with serious medical conditions. These are animals that need veterinarian attention. Examples: diabetes, severe paralysis, recent surgery, dogs with serious cardiac, kidney or liver problems, seizures.
We do not board any animals that have recently been diagnosed with a contagious disease like parvo, kennel cough, or feline leukemia.
We do not board animals that are susceptible to minor heat during the months of June, July, and August. Breeds are: Boston Terriers, English Bulldog, Pekingnese, Pugs, and all other flat faced dogs.
